چکیده

Recently, the Navier-Stokes-Voight (NSV) model of viscoelastic incompressible fluid has been proposed as a regularization of the 3D Navier-Stokes equations for the purpose of direct numerical simulations. In this work we prove that the global attractor of the 3D NSV equations, driven by an analytic forcing, consists of analytic functions. A consequence of this result is that the spectrum of the solutions of the 3D NSV system, lying on the global attractor, have exponentially decaying tail, despite the fact that the equations behave like a damped hyperbolic system, rather than the parabolic one. This result provides an additional evidence that the 3D NSV with the small regularization parameter enjoys similar statistical properties as the 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Finally, we calculate a lower bound for the exponential decaying scale – the scale at which the spectrum of the solution start to decay exponentially, and establish a similar bound for the steady state solutions of the 3D NSV and 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Our estimate coincides with similar available lower bound for the smallest dissipation length scale of solutions of the 3D Navier-Stokes equations. Global Attractors and Determining Modes for the 3d Navier-stokes-voight Equations

We investigate the long-term dynamics of the three-dimensional NavierStokes-Voight model of viscoelastic incompressible fluid. Specifically, we derive upper bounds for the number of determining modes for the 3D Navier-Stokes-Voight equations and for the dimension of a global attractor of a semigroup generated by these equations. Viewed from the numerical analysis point of view we consider the N...

Gevrey Regularity for Navier–stokes Equations under Lions Boundary Conditions

The Navier–Stokes system is considered in a compact Riemannian manifold. Gevrey class regularity is proven under Lions boundary conditions in the cases of the 2D Rectangle, Cylinder, and Hemisphere. The cases of the 2D Sphere and 2D and 3D Torus are also revisited. MSC2010: 35Q30, 76D03

Special Session 28: Fluids and Turbulence

Ever since the work of Foias and Temam in case of the Navier-Stokes equations (NSE), the use of Gevrey norms has become standard fare in estimating the radius of analyticity in various nonlinear evolution equations. Recent investigations revealed that these are also closely connected to asymptotic behavior of solutions and the study of the global attractor. In most of the studies to date, by co...

Spatial smoothness of the stationary solutions of the 3D Navier–Stokes equations

We consider stationary solutions of the three dimensional Navier–Stokes equations (NS3D) with periodic boundary conditions and driven by an external force which might have a deterministic and a random part. The random part of the force is white in time and very smooth in space. We investigate smoothness properties in space of the stationary solutions. Classical technics for studying smoothness ...

Asymptotic Regularity Conditions for the Strong Convergence towards Weak Limit Sets and Weak Attractors of the 3d Navier-stokes Equations

The asymptotic behavior of solutions of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations is considered on bounded smooth domains with no-slip boundary conditions and on periodic domains. Asymptotic regularity conditions are presented to ensure that the convergence of a Leray-Hopf weak solution to its weak ω-limit set (weak in the sense of the weak topology of the space H of square-integrable diver...
